Alaska and baby stuff (by Heidi)

While Chad is playing with Brian I thought I would finally post about the Alaska cruise. We had a great time. I might have to do a few posts to show all the pictures I want to post.
We left here on a Friday, got on board with no problems and headed for food. The ship was nice, our room was great. We sprung for a balcony. LOVED IT! Next cruise I want to bring our mattress and pillows. Or, just not be pregnant. Saturday was a day at sea. Mom threw a surprise baby shower for me. It was fun. We got a lot of cute stuff! We did some trivia challenges and watched my brother compete in Karaoke. It was a great treat to listen to him sing again. He has an amazing voice. Sunday was our first stop in Juneau. I was going to explore the city while Chad, Mom and Peder took a helicopter ride.. but due to weather it was cancelled. We headed into town to check it out. We spotted a golden and had to say Hi. He was with a representative from a whale watching tour. We signed up! It was amazing. We watched a huge pod of Humpback whales. One even jumped all the way out of the water!
Monday we were in Skagway. One of my good friends sisters is working here for the summer. We went to where she works. It is a glass blowing shop and gardens. Very cool. We had a great lunch, helped with some glass blowing and walked around the gardens. It was very cool!
Tuesday we were taken into an inlet to see a glacier. Really cool! After this it was more trivia and swimming and eating. I actually wasn't overly impressed with the food, but still ate my fair share.
Wednesday we stopped in Canada. Prince Rupert. It might be a nice town.. I will remember it as being soaking wet. Not sure why we got off the boat...
Thursday we were out to sea again. I was amazed how fast the week went by. We had had so much fun spending time with family, exploring the ship, playing games and just watching the wonderful scenery go by. There were 20 of us on board. You would run into each other and see what was going on. Thursday morning Peder, Sarah, Chad and I competed in a Friends trivia contest. We tied with another team.. there were about 4 tie breaker questions. They ended up winning on a bad question. It was when did the first show air. We both had the Month and year, but they guessed closest to the date. (still wrong though) It was fun. Or sad that we knew so much about a TV show. We then had a birthday party for Aurelia. She turned one just after the cruise. She is took cute. She had a ton of fans on board.
It was a little sad the last night on board. It was about to be over and back to reality. Peder ended the night well by another stellar performance. The moon was huge over the water as we headed back to Seattle.
I want to thank Peder who put this together and everyone who joined us. We do hope to do another cruise at some point. When you read us offering, please join us. You will not be disappointed. You can read more about the trip on the links to the right. Peder, Sarah, Mom and Janet.
As for the pregnancy. I feel pregnant. I bump into things, I can't bend over as easy and it is not squishy like a tummy is supposed to be! He is moving a bunch. We finally have a name, Marshall Dean! We are getting more and more baby things. It is fun to look at all of it and imagine him wearing it! We have the stroller put together. We are slowly getting the nursery together. Time is going fast. We had the second baby class this week. It was much better, lighter than the first. I hopefully will be able to recognize labor now. I have a fear I will run to the hospital a bunch of times.. or too late. We watched a delivery... why do people film this stuff. There will be NO pictures of my delivery.
Random other stuff...
-- Football season is about to kick off!
-- Dad.. time for a new post on the blog.
-- I am ready for ALL this election stuff to be over.
-- light a candle the White Sox will stay in first place!
