USA flight

As an air traffic controller I can tell you bird strikes happen all the time. They are dangerous, but most often happen really close to the runway. The pilots did an AMAZING job landing the plane. WOW!! Everyone got off the plane safe. Great job! Many of us (including me)take the safety talk at the beginning of the flight for granted. I was thinking how I would have done this with Marshall a few weeks ago. American pilots, air traffic and emergency responders are the best. After this flight was to land in Charlotte it was headed for Seattle. I would bet I have worked this plane and talked to this crew.

Heidi, since I am home I was watching TV when this came across. It was amazing to watch and you and Marshall certainly crossed my thoughts.

Thanks for giving us your view. Sometimes this is what it takes for all of us to realize how important those safety talks are at the beginning of each flight.

Robin Roberts from Good Morning America lives in an apartment right on the Hudson River. She watched it all unfold. She said the pilot put the plane down like the river was a runway.

What an truly heroic pilot and crew! When one imagines other scenarios, this ended up being miraculous.

Josiah and Annika LOVE the safety talks. On one of our flights home, the flight attendant let Annika play with her fake seatbelt and air mask. And they spent about 20 minutes reading the instruction card from the seatback and asking questions.

Kidding aside, this is an amazing story!
